TYDE Developmental Team Ages: open to all ages who meet the prerequisite Prerequisite: swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle & 25 yards backstroke Description: the Developmental Team offers a gentle introduction to competitive swimming with a focus on FUN and fundamentals... ideal for the new or recently experienced competitive swimmer... as the swimmers progress, this group will continue to teach the basics of proper stroke mechanics while also improving fitness and conditioning levels... also an ideal option for swimmers looking to get in shape for high school or summer league season Practices: offered 3 days per week for 60 minutes with no attendance requirement… Meets: various optional YMCA intra-association competitions are available Equipment: goggles & a positive attitude, (see our Team Store section for more information) Cost: YMCA MEMBERS -$55/month + $25 annual team fee, (includes all swim meet fees, a TYDE seasonal t-shirt, a swim cap and a car magnet) YMCA POTENTIAL-MEMBERS -$85/month + $25 annual team fee, (includes all swim meet fees, a TYDE seasonal t-shirt, a swim cap and a car magnet)
TYDE Competitive Teams AGE GROUP 1 TEAM Ages: 10 & under, (age as of December 1 in the fall/winter or July 1 in the spring/summer) Prerequisite: swimmers must be legal in all four competitive strokes, (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) Description: the Age Group 1 Team focuses on reinforcing proper stroke technique while having fun and learning to work together as a team... designed for swimmers with some type of previous competitive experience Practices: offered 5 days per week for 75 minutes with a minimum of 2 practices per week encouraged Meets: various YMCA & USA Swimming competitions available - optional but encouraged Equipment: goggles, fins & a TYDE competitive suit, (see our Team Store section for more information) Cost: YMCA MEMBERS ONLY -$80/month + $85 annual team fee, (includes all swim meet fees, a TYDE seasonal t-shirt, a swim cap and a car magnet)
AGE GROUP 2 TEAM (formerly Blue) Ages: 10-14 (age as of December 1 in the fall/winter or July 1 in the spring/summer) Prerequisite: 11-14 year old swimmers must be able to complete 100 yards of all four competitive strokes, (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly)... 10 year old swimmers must have achieved three USASwimming 10&under ’AA’ time standards Description: the Age Group 2 Team continues to fine tune stroke mechanics while introducing the fundamentals of interval training, race strategy and work ethic... this is an advanced program for the experienced competitive swimmer Practices: offered 5 days per week for 90 minutes with a minimum of 3 practices per week encouraged Meets: various YMCA & USA Swimming competitions available - optional but encouraged Equipment: goggles, fins, snorkel, water bottle & a TYDE competitive suit, (see our Team Store section for more information) Cost: YMCA MEMBERS ONLY - $90/month + $85 annual team fee, (includes all swim meet fees, a TYDE seasonal t-shirt, a swim cap and a car magnet) NATIONAL PREP TEAM (formerly Gold)Ages: 11-14 (age as of December 1 in the fall/winter or July 1 in the spring/summer) - admittance by coaches approval only Prerequisite: swimmers must have achieved two USASwimming 11-12 ’A’ time standards for 11-12 year olds or two USA Swimming 13-14 'BB' time standards for 13-14 year olds… current TYDE swimmers can see the list of eligible TYDE swimmers invited to the National Prep Team - final admittance by coaches approval only Description: the National Prep Team prepares swimmers for progression into regional and national level swimming through developing an understanding of training thresholds, race analysis and an introduction to strength training... designed for the determined and goal driven young swimmer Benefits: a focus on the camaraderie side of the sport… attendance at national caliber swim meets… interaction with our senior level swimmers Practices: offered 6 days per week with a minimum of 4 practices per week expected, with additional practices highly encouraged Meets: various YMCA & USASwimming competitions available - select meets mandatory; December taper meet TBD, 14 & Under Age Group States plus additional meets as assigned… a minimum of 75% attendance at all other National Prep Team meets will be expected Equipment: goggles, fins, snorkel, hand paddles, pull buoy, kick board, water bottle & a TYDE competitive suit, (see our Team Store section for more information) Cost: YMCA MEMBERS ONLY - $115/month + $85 annual team fee, (includes all swim meet fees, a TYDE seasonal t-shirt, a swim cap and a car magnet)
NATIONAL TEAM Ages: 14 & over (age as of December 1 in the fall/winter or July 1 in the spring/summer) - admittance by coaches approval only Prerequisite: swimmers must have achieved three TYDE National Team time standards in either short course yards or long course meters AND the ability to perform the TYDE National Team entrance workout ... current TYDE swimmers can see the list of eligible TYDE swimmers invited to the National Team, (must be able to complete the entrance workout) - final admittance by coaches approval only Description: the National Team creates an environment for the serious athlete who is looking to reach the next level in their swimming career… designed for the advanced swimmer to enhance their work ethic through goal evaluation and embracing new challenges… learning advanced race strategy, increasing levels of training and exploring mental toughness is the primary focus of this group... exclusively for the dedicated competitive swimmer Benefits: a focus on the cognitive side of the sport… more exposure to top venues and college campuses… access to special events including learning opportunities designed only for the National Team Practices: 10 practices offered per week including strength practices and lecture - a minimum of 6 practices per week expected, (four of which must be afternoon or Saturday morning workouts), with additional practices highly encouraged Meets: various YMCA & USA Swimming competitions available - select meets mandatory; Capital Classic, Short Course YMCA Nationals & Long Course YMCA Nationals… a minimum of 75% attendance at all other National Team meets will be expected… swimmers who maintain 80%+ practice attendance may also opt for the winter training trip, Senior Sectionals or Austin Grand Prix & the Montreal Grand Prix Equipment: goggles, fins, snorkel, hand paddles, pull buoy, kick board, shoes, bucket (provided), water bottle & a TYDE competitive suit, (see our Team Store section for more information) Cost: YMCA MEMBERS ONLY - $160/month + $85 annual team fee, (includes all swim meet fees, a TYDE seasonal t-shirt, a swim cap and a car magnet)
ELITE TEAM Ages: 15 & over (age as of December 1 in the fall/winter or July 1 in the spring/summer) - admittance by coaches approval only Prerequisite: swimmers must have achieved four TYDE Elite Team time standards in either short course yards or long course meters and the ability to perform the TYDE Elite Team workout requirements ... current TYDE swimmers can see the list of eligible TYDE swimmers invited to the Elite Team, (must be able to complete the entrance workout) - final admittance by coaches approval only Description: the Elite Team prepares swimmers for national and international levels of competition through specificity of training and utilizing up-to-the-minute innovations in stroke technique, conditioning equipment and training theory... this group is meant to represent a college-level training program and is only for the committed top area athletes Benefits: a focus on the long term planning side of the sport… an individually designed training plan… a heavy focus on videotaping and race analysis… access to the Elite Team’s personal trainer, nutritionist and massage therapist Practices: 11 practices offered per week including strength practices and lecture - a minimum of 9 practices per week expected, (to include all afternoon & Saturday morning workouts) Meets: various YMCA & USA Swimming competitions available - select meets mandatory; Capital Classic, winter training trip, Senior Sectionals or Spring Grand Prix, Short Course YMCA Nationals, Montreal Grand Prix & Long Course YMCA Nationals plus additional meets as assigned including US Junior & Senior Nationals Equipment: goggles, fins, snorkel, hand paddles, pull buoy, kick board, shoes, ankle strap, tennis ball (provided), golf ball (provided), bucket (provided), stretch rope (provided), heart rate monitor (provided), water bottle & a TYDE competitive suit, (see our Team Store section for more information) Cost: YMCA MEMBERS ONLY - $220/month + $85 annual team fee, (includes all swim meet fees, a TYDE seasonal t-shirt, a swim cap and a car magnet PLUS a 50% discount on Capital Classic and YMCA National travel expenses) |
