Little Dribblers

 

This is an outstanding program for young basketball players (Ages 3 & 4) and their parents.  This program will teach basketball fundamentals and character development traits. The program will be offered on in two sessions, a Monday session or a Wednesday session.

 

Costs: 1 session: $40 members; $65 non-members ($10 Late Fee after October 10)

Both sessions: $70 members; $110 non-members ($15 Late Fee after October 10)

Registration: September 1 - October 10

Late Registration: October 11 - October 20

Monday Session Dates: October 20, 27, November 10 and 17

Wednesday Session Dates: Ocotober 22, 29, November 5, November 12

 

Winter YBA

(Boys and Girls Ages 5-15)

The Youth Basketball Association is a program specifically designed to improve your child’s basketball skills, coordination, teamwork and to assist in character development. Parent volunteers exist as coaches providing positive role modeling along with basketball knowledge to children of all age groups. The League is separated into 3 divisions and teams are formed based on the age of your child as of Sept. 1, 2008. The age divisions are as follows:

Co-ed: 5&6 Year olds; 7 Year Olds

Boys: 8 Year Olds, 9 Year Olds, 10 Year Olds, 11 Year Olds, 12-13 Year Olds, 14-15 Year Olds

Girls: 8-9 Year Olds, 10-11 Year Olds, 12-14 Year Olds

Costs: $60 for members, $90 for non-members

Registration: September 1 – October 17

Late Registration: October 18 - November 15 ($15 Late Fee will apply)

Skill Screenings: November 4, 6, 11, or 13. Players 8 years or older must attend one of the skill screenings before being allowed to participate in the league. Please contact the Sports Director at j.zendel@ymcanwnc.org, if you cannot attend one of the above listed training sessions.

Practices: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at either 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30

Practice Locations: Central Family YMCA, Wiley Middle School, Cook Elementary School

Game Dates (Ages 5-9): December 13, 20, January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7 and February 21

Game Dates (Ages 10 and Older): December 13, 20, January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, Week of February 9, Week of February 16 (Playoffs), February 21 (If Necessary).

End of Season Celebration: On February 28th at the Central Family YMCA, there will be an end of season celebration for all basketball participants and their families. The cost is $3 for participants and $5 for non-participants. Please RSVP for the celebration by February 21.

 

Summer YBA Hot Hoops

(Boys and Girls Ages 5-14)

This program will be a smaller and modified version of the winter YBA program.  The divisions will be co-ed and the age groups will be based on the participant's age as of May 1, 2007.  Practices and games will be held during the weekday evenings, which leaves weekends free for other activities.

Age Groups: Co-ed 5-7; 8-10; 11-14

Registration:  April 1 - May 2

Late Registration: May 3 - May 8.  Participants who register after May 1 will be charged an additional $15.00. 

Player Screenings: Player screenings will be on Monday May 5 and Tuesday May 6. Players must attend one of the skill screenings. 5:30-6:30 (5-7 years old); 6:30-7:30 (8-10 years old); 7:30-8:30 (11-14 years old)

Practices: Practices will be Tuesdays beginning May 27. Times will be 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30, depenindg upon age group

Games: Thursday evening beginning June 5. Games will go from June 5 thru the week of July 31st.

Fees:   $55 for members, $80 for non-members

YMCA Competitive Travel League (YCTL)

2007-2008

 

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina branches are joining together to form a basketball league for teams looking for competitive basketball during the winter months.  There will be no draft for this league.  Coaches may form their own teams.  Games will be played on Saturdays in the YMCA of NWNC Service area, which includes the following counties:  Davie, Forsyth, Stokes, Wilkes, and Yadkin.  The season will consist of six regular season games and a double elimination tournament at the end.  Teams will receive one practice per week.  There is a team registration fee of $600 which includes all practices, games, t-shirts, and end of season awards.  Practices begin mid-November and games begin early December.  There will be separate divisions for boys and girls.

 

Registration:  September 4 - September 27

Age Divisions:  10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, 18 & Under

Fee:  $600 PER TEAM (Teams must consist of 8 - 11 players)

 

YMCA Competitive Travel League is open to Recreation Teams, AAU Teams, USSSA Teams, and YBOA Teams.
