Little Dribblers

 

This is an outstanding program for young basketball players (Ages 3 & 4) and their parents.  This program will teach basketball fundamentals and character development traits. The program will be offered on in two sessions, a Monday session or a Wednesday session.

Winter YBA

(Boys and Girls Ages 5-15)

The Youth Basketball Association is a program specifically designed to improve your child’s basketball skills, coordination, teamwork and to assist in character development. Parent volunteers exist as coaches providing positive role modeling along with basketball knowledge to children of all age groups. The League is separated into 2 divisions and teams are formed based on the age of your child as of Sept. 1, 2009. The age divisions are as follows:

 

Boys: 5-6 year Olds, 7 year Olds, 8 Year Olds, 9 Year Olds, 10 Year Olds, 11 Year Olds, 12-13 Year Olds, 14-16 Year Olds

 

Girls: 5-7 years Olds, 8-9 Year Olds, 10-11 Year Olds, 12-14 Year Olds

 

Costs: $65 for members, $95 for non-members

 

Registration: September 1 – October 17

Late Registration: October 18 - November 30 ($20 Late Fee will apply)

 

Skill Screenings: October 27, October 29,  November 3 or 5. Players 8 years or older must attend one of the skill screenings before being allowed to participate in the league. Please contact the Sports Director at j.zendel@ymcanwnc.org, if you cannot attend one of the above listed training sessions.

 

Practices: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at either 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30

 

Practice Locations: William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA, Wiley Middle School, Cook Elementary School

 

Game Dates (Ages 5-9): December 12, 19, January 9, 16, 23, 30, February 6 and February 20

 

Game Dates (Ages 10 and Older): December 12, 19, January 9, 16, 23, 30, February 6, Week of February 8, Week of February 15 (Playoffs), February 20 (If Necessary).

 

End of Season Celebration: On February 26th at the William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA, there will be an end of season celebration for all basketball participants and their families. The cost is $3 for participants and $5 for non-participants. Please RSVP for the celebration by February 21.

Summer YBA Hot Hoops

(Boys and Girls Ages 5-14)

This program will be a smaller and modified version of the winter YBA program.  The divisions will be co-ed and the age groups will be based on the participant's age.  Practices and games will be held during the weekday evenings, which leaves weekends free for other activities.
